Are you not entertained???
More entertaining. This time for Vancouver Magazine. Their Holiday Survival Guide. This was a big undertaking. 3 different shoots. But the opener was especially a feat to put together. Luckily we got the swankest hotel room in Vancouver to work with us.

2 years running! Western Living Condo has TWO nominations in the Photography-Homes & Garden category (which we won last year) at the National Magazine Awards. Martin Tessler is nominated for both of the shoots above. I designed both, and was on set and art directed ‘Man About Town’.
I am feeling a bit robbed about none of the still life food shoots being nominated. I blame Toronto.
This is a shoot that appeared in the Fall/Winter 2010 issue of CONDO for a piece called ‘The Bachelor’. It was an amazing space. I loved the contrast of raw brick and concrete mixing with high end modern design. It all had a very masculine feel to it.
This shoot went on to win Gold at the National Magazine Awards in the Homes and Gardens category (my first win) with Martin Tessler.

Last night my girlfriend and I had dinner at what many would consider Vancouver’s best Thai Restaurant, Maenam. We had grilled Thai sausage and crispy rice salad and green papaya salad for starters with the Pad Thai and southern-style dry curry with grilled sirloin for our mains. Very good.
In Western Living’s September 2011 issue we ran a food feature that included recipes by Maenam head chef, Angus An. Angus was kind enough to come on set and help prep some of the dishes, and lent us props like the gold tureen that held the curry chicken, and the mortar and pestle which he uses at Maenam.
