Love these shots! Your guide to everything Burgundy. From the June issue of Western Living.
Award Season is here. Vanmag got a couple National nominations. Meanwhile Vanmag and Western Living got a bunch at the Western Magazine Awards. Martin Tessler got 2 noms for a couple shoots we worked on together for Best Photograph (above: To all a good night, and the stairway from WL Condo). I got a nomination for best art direction for an article for ‘Chefs Tips: How to Peel an Artichoke’ from Western Living.
From the October 2011 issue of Western Living. A decor trend piece based around color. The White image was nominated for Best Photograph at the Western magazine Awards.

This is the ultimate guide to picnicking. With Recipes by Cactus Clubs Rob Feenie. A couple things to note: there are more pages to this, but I don’t like to post fractional design pages (though I work with them a lot), and also, the drop cap on the ‘W’ looks a little nicer on paper. It’s supposed to resemble the pattern of a picnic blanket, but when making these low res enough to post it kind of got lost…Ce la vie.
Here is the shoot from the most recent Western Living CONDO, which just hit the newsstands. Really amazing space and shoot in Gastown. It might be my favorite CONDO shoot ever? Layout and art direction by myself.

2 years running! Western Living Condo has TWO nominations in the Photography-Homes & Garden category (which we won last year) at the National Magazine Awards. Martin Tessler is nominated for both of the shoots above. I designed both, and was on set and art directed ‘Man About Town’.
I am feeling a bit robbed about none of the still life food shoots being nominated. I blame Toronto.
This is a shoot that appeared in the Fall/Winter 2010 issue of CONDO for a piece called ‘The Bachelor’. It was an amazing space. I loved the contrast of raw brick and concrete mixing with high end modern design. It all had a very masculine feel to it.
This shoot went on to win Gold at the National Magazine Awards in the Homes and Gardens category (my first win) with Martin Tessler.

Here is a Summer Eating package that ran in the June 2011 issue of Western Living, which featured three dishes for a perfect outdoor party. Clinton and Murray pulled great surfaces, and Clinton really got that outdoor lighting feel (even though we shot in studio).
